The seasoned sailor stepped from the merchant ship with the plain blue flag with a centered white star onto the busy dock.
The pilot boat said to go to the magistrate before selling any goods, so the sailor headed to the official's office at the end of the dock.
In the magistrate's office, the sailor said "We have a ship load of beautifully colored cloth and a special wood that may only found on our southern island. I have enough goods to support a small shop in your port. If your people like what we have for sale then my southern friends can supply much more."
The sailor continued "I would like to take some of your quality goods back to our families who will surely be glad to get them. I’m sure we can make a regular business of trading what we have for what you got."
"If you are willing to discuss a more continuous trade relationship, we may be able to accommodate that."
